Is This The Beginning Of The End?

What a way to end the week! And while this is definately good for BEA shareholders, I am not so sure that this is good for the industry on the whole.

What a way to end the week! And while this is definately good for BEA shareholders, I am not so sure that this is good for the industry on the whole.
How I see it is:
- Competition breeds better products
Without BEA, the major players remaining are Oracle and IBM. Are their competing products better than WebLogic? I may be wrong, but I don't think so.
- Consolidation = Entropy
While the move from disorder to order may seem good, actually there is a 'loss' of positive energy in the application server industry. What happens then could result in an industry 'absolute zero' sooner than expected and that is not a good thing. Perhaps this is nature and hence inevitable.
- Future of OTM
How this impacts OTM, one can only imagine. Will we benefit from it or suffer the consequences? I am personally not too optimistic but then again I always look at the glass half-fullWhat will be the future application server landscape be like? Sunny days ahead or bleak weather. Thoughts and comments please!
