Updating Order Release events when Shipment events are entered

We have a scenario where in we do not generate sell side shipments. Customer tracking is at the Order Release level. for this any event added to the shipment has to be added to the Order Release. With the increase in volume of business it is becoming increasingly diffcult to add events to order releases based on events added to the shipmentl.
How can we automate this process so that when a user/integration adds a shipment event the event gets added to a order release too?
Note: We also dabble in multi stop shipments
Thanks in advance.

Regards
Karthik

What version of OTM do you have? I assume by "How can we automate this process so that when a user/integration adds a shipment event the event gets added to a order release too?" you mean the buy side shipment since the sell may or may not exist, correct? You should be able to copy your events with an agent assuming you mean from the buy side shipment. Variables are your friend

This particular requirement is for v 4.5. However we were trying to avoid Direct SQL updates and hence wanted to know if there is a existing agent action that can achieve this requirement.
Appreciate your responses on this issue. thanks a lot

Sorry, as far as I am aware, the only way is with a direct sql and the use of variables in an agent. We use this method on several of our agents with no issue.

I'm going to think way way out of the box on this one. Why don't you see if you can set up a set of custom OR statuses that mirror the shipment events. When the event is received use that as a trigger for an Agent to change the OR status (may require 2 agents where you raise the event first). Then, have an agent listen for a change in the OR status and add the event on the OR. Keep in mind that this is just a wild thought but to actually do this it would require someone who's done this type of agent configuration before.
