In 5.0 you can manually build a buy shipment if you need to. But there is not an option under Create Sell Shipment to do the same. Is is truly not available in 5.0? Is it available in 5.5? Or has it even been addressed yet by Oracle? Any thoughts on a workaround in 5.0? Thanks.
I am not sure where you are looking in your UI, but from an order release there has always been the ability via the Actions Menu to manually create a buy shipment or a sell shipment. That capability has been there since the very early days as far as I can remember.
It may well be that you are using a customised Actions menu where someone has removed that capability ? If you are still having an issue, repost with the screen shot of your Actions menu from the Order Release results screen.
I can confirm the "Manual" action is not available for building Sell shipments from a Order release. I do not know why , but it isn't.
It is also not configured as an Action in the action manager so it would be impossible to add the action to your menu.
It is not the answer you've hoped for, but it is the reality.
I agree with bmj 23 that it is standard OTM functionality to create a manual sell shipment from an order release by navigating from the OTM menu > Actions > Create Sell Shipment > Manual. Unless your Actions were customized, I am not sure why it is not available for you.
Now that is strange....... Several experienced people are telling something opposite......
I'm looking into my 5.0 environment and I'm 100% sure it is not available as an action under "Create Sell Shipment", and I'm another 100% sure I'm using the default screenset.
So I'm wondering how other systems have it.
GOing a bit in depth here, I see this "Manual" action only available under "Create Buy Shipment". When you get the screen in front of you, you have the ability to build a Sell shipment by chosing the appropriate Perspective.
Nothing prevents you to create a actions menu yourself and use this action also for the sell side. However the default setting of "Perspective" will be Buy I think.

The way to manually build a sell shipment is as Bob has outlined above. From an Order Release Finder screen, select Actions > Create Buy Shipment > Manual and change the perspective to Sell. That has been in the application for quite a long time I believe. If you want to add this to the Actions Menu under Create Sell Shipment, then that is obviously possible.
