Calendar

Hi,

I have two questions about calendars in OTM

1- Could i create a calendar with national days off (for example christmas) and without year? so i have to create the calendar once and it is useful all years.

2- Could i ignore the calendar in specific situations?

Thanks in advanced,

Re: Calendar

Hi,

1. Yes you can. Either a) create a cyclical calendar with the normal activities you want and then add in activity calendar overrides or b) create an annual calendar which doesnt allow any activities on the standard national holiday dates.

2. There is some functionality in OTM to ignore certain planning constraints when you are building a shipment. This allows the user to select which constraints e.g. calendars should be ignored when building a shipment from the UI. There is some additional configuration required to enable this which I seem to remember is at the DB level and cannot be set via the UI (needs checking). Look for Igore Planning Constraints in the online help.

If you provide more details on the "specific situations" there may be other ways of achieving the same result (as is usually the case with OTM).

Re: Calendar

Hi,
Thanks for your answer but i have a question, if i create an annual calendar i have to select the start date and the finnish date so the holiday dates are only available for one year and not for the next ones.
For example christmas (25 th of december ) is a holiday date every year, so if i select 12/25/2007, next year 12/25/2008 how can i know that it is selected as holiday?.
Thanks.

Re: Calendar

Hi,

Yes, I think you have to define that 12/25 in 2007 and 12/25 in 2008 is a holiday in your geography. That date is not a public holiday in every region of the world, hence you need to define it - in much the same way that 07/04 is not a public holiday in other countries in the world apart from the USA.

Its not a big task to enter that via the UI, but if you feel it is, you could always upload the public holidays that are relevant for your implementation via CSV.

Re: Calendar

Hi,
I have read the document Ignore Planning Constraints and i want to use the option calendar on location constraints, does anyone know how to?
Thanks.
Location Constraints

Calendar

When ignored, OTM assumes there is no calendar defined on a location role profile for this location. When calculating service time OTM bypasses checking whether a certain time is a work period.

Re: Calendar

Hi New_OTM,

The steps to Ignore the Calendar constraint are the following:

Select the order release that you want to plan
- Go to Actions / Create Buy Shipment / Direct
- The new window will show 'Ignore The Following Fields"
- Click the Arrow right next to Location Constraints
- Select Calendar
- Click OK
- A new window will pop up, Click OK again
- A confirmation screen with the new shipment should appear

Hope this helps,

Alejandro B.

Re: Calendar

Hi new_otm,

I am in OTM 4.5 and I was not expecting the process to be different in 5.5.

I am not sure but it does not seem to me like you need to configure something in order the see the options, my gutt feeling is that the "Create message direct shipment / team" is something that was added to the process. If none of the fields have a red asterisk next to them, could you please try to go to the Next screen in a Test Environment?

Hope this helps,

Alejandro B.

Re: Calendar

Hi new_otm,

The window that you mentioned is the same that I get before creating the shipment, without actually seeing OTM 5.5 it is hard for me to know how the process have changed. Nevertheless, it seems like you managed to plan the shipment as you needed, is that right?

Regards,

Alejandro B.
