Consolidate multiple orders into one shipment

We can't seem to create a single shipment for multiple orders that go into a pool center on a 2 leg itinerary (1st leg TL->Deconsolidation Pool with location profile that contains all pool locations with Create Single Shipment checked, 2nd leg LTL->final destination). The only time we can get OTM to create a single shipment is if the final destination are the same. When the final destinations are different even though they are served by the same pool, OTM creates 3 separate shipments into the pool instead of 1 like we would expect. We've tried using Auto Consolidation Type of CONSOL INTO ONE EQUIP in the 1st leg of itinerary but that didn't work either. Any idea what we might have done wrong for the setups?

Thanks!

Re: Consolidate multiple orders into one shipment

Hi,

The below could be few check points for these kind of situations:

1. is there service time defined between final destinations in the rate service.

2. what is the basis of rate costs - is it equipment and if so have you defined different rate costs for different equipments. (i.e., check the cost factor in the TL mode and LTL mode)

3. Try doing force merger by selecting shipments to be merged and clicking on the Merge shipments in ACtion and if it cannot merge then it will throw the exact error why it is not able to do so and that will help in your debugging.

Re: Consolidate multiple orders into one shipment

Thanks Ravintag! I tried merging the shipments and was able to do so without error, I'm really curious as to why OTM did not do that during bulk plan. My TL rate cost basis is total distance traveled, and LTL rate cost basis is per 100lb weight, I'm not sure if they could be the culprits. My rate service is SIMULATION with the times and speed defined, again I'm not sure how this directly affect shipment consolidation. We've tried reviewing the log specifically OrderBundle, Planning and PlanningDetails but we haven't seen anything unusual, we'll try to go thru that process again. Thanks again for your help again!

Re: Consolidate multiple orders into one shipment

Hi,

You might want to have a look at the cost of the shipments as a whole. OTM as a rule will always chose the cheapest want transportation. If this is the case, you should have a look into "Rate Quality Factors" in the help file. This may be of assistance.

Re: Consolidate multiple orders into one shipment

HI ARE YOU EXPECTING ONE TL AND 2 LTL SHIPMENTS.

If thats the case in the itinerary in the frist leg mention the location of the Deconsol .DONT click the Primary leg option on any of the legs .

In the second leg just leave it empty with out mentioning the destination .

Hope you have attached the Region to the DECONSOLE LOCATON.

Make sure the equipment mentioned in the itinerary has the capacity to carry your orders.
