scenario:
Order release
1. A->B
2. B->A

want to create 1 multistop shipment i.e A->B->B->A ( like a return trip) - thus both P/D activity happening at same location i.e. B

Rate record: region to region(A and B)
Itineray: multistop-region to region(A and B)

Bulk planning is resulting in 2 independent shipments
Can you please suggest some approach to build above desired shipment using planning

Try defining the location role of B as Shipfrom/Shipto and Consol as well.

Even after defining Location B as both ship from/to and consol role type; still system is not planning single multi-stop (return trip) shipment.

Any time constraints in the OR's like Pickup & Delivery dates? Also does it allow you to force merge the two shipments?

HI ,

As per OTM this is Continous tour .

Even then it creates two shipments but it use the same truck .

B-A shipment starts only after a-b shuipment gets delivered.

U have do a total diffrent setupfor this .

In case of continuous move(CM), there will be two different shipments ( i.e two different equipments ) linked together - Then how can we assume that they are being carried in same truck/trailer?

When we tender these shipments to carriers, there will be two different tenders - How will carriers come to know whether they need to send 1 or 2 equipments to carry these two shipments?

Hi Arun,

Even after mentioning matching pickup/delivery dates in Order releases ( so that round trip is feasible), system is not making single multistop shipment.

System is allowing forced merge of these two shipments into 1, but while doing that no proper P/D sequence is maintained i.e. system is creating PPDD rather than PDPD seq. Also pickup/delivery times are not correct on shipment formed after merging.

To my knowledge there is no way u can achevive (A->B->B->A ( like a return trip)it in OTM .

I mean u cant creat single shipment for the above requirment .

But continous move works if (A->B->B->A ) But it creates two shipments but uses the same truck or equipment .

Kishore,

You can acheive the scenario with single shipment by using static/dynamic trip and define the stop activities in a ground schedule. And iam able to do that. But i just wanted to know if that is possible with a multistop itinerary as orginally posted by Nipunlakhotia.
