Pool through Multistop or multileg itinerary?

Hi All,

Could u please let me know if a pool shipment should be created through a multi-leg itinerary or multi-stop itinerary as a standard practice.

I am coming across an issue that if I define the multi-leg itinerary then shipments get built but types of the shipment appears as transport and time window can not accomodate the orders to wait for the pool, Orders will start moving from the pool without waiting for other orders with which these can be clubbed.

Regards
Vipin

Hi Vipin,

Its not mandatory to create a pool shipment . If you dont check the option creat pool handling shipment in location Roles then it doesnt create a pool shipment .

Best thing to do is create Order moments from order release then plan the shipments from order moments .

Re: Pool through Multistop or multileg itinerary?

Hi Kishore,

My question is if I want to create a pool shipment then should I use multi-stop itinerary or multi-leg itinerary? My finding is that if I create multi-leg itinerary then even if pool handling is ticked in location role then also shipment will not have the shipment type as pool. Only through multistop itinerary shipment type reflects as pool.

Second point is if I take a multi-leg itinerary then Max freight idle time field is not honoured by system i.e Orders will not wait till the max freight idle time and they will start moving from pool location as soon as they reach there.

Please let me know if you differ on this.

Re: Pool through Multistop or multileg itinerary?

You are correct it creates pool shipments only for multistop shipments .

For the second point try using the Fixed wait time in the location .

Re: Pool through Multistop or multileg itinerary?

Fixed waiting time will get uniformly applied to all the orders. If some orders are coming in the difference of 12 hours and need to go together can not be consolidated through this option.

Please let me know if any other option is available to achieve this.

Re: Pool through Multistop or multileg itinerary?

Your scenario is not clear to me. Are you referring to a pool scenario or a cross-dock scenario?

For a consolidation pool, there would be multiple inbound (pool) shipments combined into a single outbound (line-haul) shipments. For a deconsolidation pool, there would be a single inbound line-haul shipment with multiple outbound pool shipments.

For a cross-dock, there would be multiple inbound shipments to the cross-dock and multiple outbound shipments from the cross-dock.

Re: Pool through Multistop or multileg itinerary?

Tff,

Scenario is that there are a couple of orders arriving from different location to Pool and from there get consolidated into one shipment. I am able to achieve this only if the orders arrive at the same time.

Did you mean that this case is possible through cross dock and not through consolidation pool?
In this case , I am trying through multistop itinerary as well as through multi-leg but not able to achieve the desired result.

Pls let me know if you understood the case.
