Rate Service not being honoured

Hi Friends,

We have created a rate service with Max Work time as 5:30hrs and mar transit as 3hrs.
All the stops had an activity time of 30mins pe ship unit. When i do a bulk plan i see that the total work time which according to help also includes the activity time is more than the max work time. Even the max transit time is more than what we mentioned in the rate service.
Any idea what time values does the max work time take while calculating the times and why this is coming?

Regards,
Anirban Roy

Anirban

OTM calculates the total work time based on your (Max transit time + Min rest time) along with the speed of the vehicle in mph. In case Max transit time is greater than Max work time then it takes (Max work time + Min rest time) along with speed of the vehicle in mph.

Max work time is not the total time taken for transporting the goods. Its the time after which the driver must take rest. Please read Hours Of Service work methodology followed in U.S for better understanding. For your easy understanding i have made a attachment. Pls go through it.

Thumbs up Re: Rate Service not being honoured

Max work time includes your Max transit time + All other activities. For example in a Max work hour of 8 only 4 hrs can be Max transit time. Then the rest of the time will be other activities.

Revert back for any clarifications

Re: Rate Service not being honoured

Hi Sophia,
Thanks for the wonderful reply. I had 2 more question. The example you took was for A->B.
If the route is A->B->C with an activity time of 30mins in B.
Max work time = 8hrs
Max transit time = 5hrs
Min rest time = 0hrs
A->B it takes 4hrs to travel
B->C it takes 3hrs to travel
1. Is the total work time = 4(A->B) + 3 (B->C) + 30min (activity at B) = 7hrs 30mins ?
2. And will the shipment fail becasue the Transit time exceeds than what we have mentioned in the rate service or will it still go ahead and build it becasue the work time does not exceed the max work time?
Thanks,
Anirban Roy

Re: Rate Service not being honoured

Hi Anirban,

Answer for the 1st question goes like this. You have two legs which has the location B. Hence Activity time of 30 min for leg1 and another acitivity time of 30 min for leg 2 is added (ex: Unloading and loading). So Total working time = 4(A->B)+.30(B)+.30(B)+3(B->C) = 8 hrs

For your second question the shipment will not fail if the transit time exceeds. If the transit time exceeds then OTM will look for the Min rest time. Since the rest time is 0 It will continue and reach destination.
You can instruct OTM either to fail the shipment or to continue with building the shipment only if the transit time exceeds the Max work time. For that look for the field Max Work time usage type.
