Required Lat/Lon for Canada?

I am trying to get TL's going for our Canadian moves, and the postal code for Canada is XXX XXX, however some of the locations in our system are configured as XXXXXX. I am using Intelliroute, and I can plan shipments fine in either format and even between the two formats. The only time that I have an issue is if the source and dest are in the same postal code, but the format doesn't match. When I tried to bring this up with support, they said that it is because I need Lat/Lon entered for every location outside of the US. None of my locations have Lat/Lon entered, but all the rest work just fine.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Is that true?
