Dear All,

I have got a query regarding the selection of equipments by OTM during planning with a defined Temp_Control_Id on commodity level.

The basic configuration / Data-setup are:

vERSION 5.5 CU2

COMMODITIES:
1. GARMENT
=> WITH NO TEMP CONTROL ID
=> No Equipment Group Profile
2. FRESH FOOD
=> WITH TEMP CONTROL ID (REFREE)
=> No Equipment Group Profile

EQUIPMENT GROUP
1. 48FT_CONTAINER_DRY < WITH NO TEMP CONTROL ID >
2. 48FT_CONTAINER_REFREE < WITH TEMP CONTROL ID (REFREE)>

EQUIPMENT GROUP PROFILE
1. 48FT_EQUIPMENT (Compatible with the above mentioned Equip Group)

ITINERARIES
Leg is contrained with "Optimize Equipment" with 48FT_EQUIPMENT

Query:
I have created an OR with only one item which belongs to GARMENT Commodity. After building the shipment, I am surprised to see that OTM has picked 48FT_CONTAINER_REFREE even though I have not constrainted any Temp Control
on that commodity. Why is that not picking 48FT_CONTAINER_DRY with no temp control attached to that?

My Understanding:
IF a Temp_Control_ID is not attached to a commodity, whether OTM has got the freedom to select any of those equipments (temp controlled or non-temp controlled) which falls under the same Equip_Group_Profile as mentioned in itineraries?

Kindly help me in understanding the logic behind the selection of equipments when a Temp Controlled is not sepcified to a commodity and vice versa.

I am facing lots of similar issue in support, either ie OTM building with un-desired equipment with relation to temp control definitions.

Hi Sanju,

There can be many reasons why OTM has chosen tat equipment. As you said correctly OTM has freedom to choose between any of these equipments. Also OTM considers equipment weight and volume, rate for each equipment id before planning. These two factors also affect OTM choice when Temperature control id is not mentioned on commodity..

Hi Sophia,

As per help "If an order has temperature controlled items, those temperature controls must overlap with temperature controls for the equipment group"

So when planning it has to pick the 48FT_CONTAINER_REFREE since commodity id is given to link with the item which is in the order release taken for planning.

In both commodity and equipment the temperature control id is given.
I have tried this by giving same rate and weight but then also it is picking 48FT_CONTAINER_DRY.

Its working fine...when I have created another temperature control id Default for all the other Dry equipment attached it to the commodity as well as equipment...

Thanks Everyone for your continous input.The issue is resolved by using multiple temperature control's for different set of temperature ranges
