Service Time calculation

Hi :

Can anyone please give me some input on how OTM calculates the Service Times ? What factors it considers ? I am sure it may not be simple - but any guidelines will help.

We are using OTM5.5 CU2.

Thanks in advance.
Jay.

Re: Service Time calculation

There are a couple of ways to setup service time calculation. For instance, there is a simulation which you can setup to calculate the service time. Such as 50 mph for a max of 11 hours and then driver must rest for a minimum of 10 hours. So in one example you can have a shipment which has a distance of 700 miles the service time would be

50 mph * 11hr
1 rest * 10hr
50mph * 3hr

Total time = 24 hrs
Total Distance = 700 miles

There are many other settings that can be setup including using an external service time system. Hopefully this explains a little bit.

Re: Service Time calculation

Thanks so much bfolan. That really helped for a head start.

Now, when does the Location Activity Time definitions come into play ? Pickup, Receive activity.

Thanks
Jay

If the source location is picked up on Friday at noon but the destination calendar is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm receive the system will calculate a wait time from Saturday noon until Monday 8am. The shipment will have a start time of Friday noon and an end time of 8am Monday. There is also setting which you can determine max wait time which is acceptable. Also every setting can be adjusted.
