Question [SOLVED] Key Factors for building a X-Dock / Pooling shipments

Dear All,

I have tried a dozens of time to built shipments with x-dock. I wasn't successful in building the same. I have configured the setup with assistance of OTM Help. I am sure about the fact that I am missing-out some key configuration issue to built a shipment thru pool / x-dock.

Can any one list out the key configurations that would effect a x-dock / pool thru shipments in OTM 5.5, please?

Hi Sanju,

Have you checked the log after you run the bulk plan? It is kind of a pain but it could give you some direction to what the problem may be (itinerary, rate offering, rate record, time constraint, etc.)

Hope it helps,

Alejandro B.

Re: Key Factors for building a X-Dock / Pooling shipments

Hi Alejandro,

Many thanks for your reply. Infact I tried to understand what OTM is doing when the bulk plan is on, all I can see is that X-Dock is being considered in terms of itineraries, RR& RO, but OTM ignores the x-dock and builts a multi-stop shipment. My configuration towards the consideration for a x-dock also seems to be perfect.

BTW- - As adviced, I shall check with the logs, more extensively to fx this issue.

Many thanks once again

- Sanju

Have you configured the parameters on your itinerary relating to cross docks correctly ?

I think you need to populate the Minimum Stopoff Weight/Volume, Maximum XDock Weight/Volume, Minimum Total Weight or Min TL Volume fields correctly.

Make sure you have some values entered into these fields and you may also just want to have a read through the online help for the itinerary header which explains these fields, and their impact, in a reasonable amount of detail.

Post again if you are still having issues.

Re: Key Factors for building a X-Dock / Pooling shipments

Hi,

Thanks again.

Currently, I was successful in building a X-DOCK shipment when I constrained "Must Ship Thru X-dock" option in Order level.

But for this option checked, I am still unsuccessful in making OTM to build a x-dock intelligently. I want to understand, do we need to always check the above mentioned option in order level to effect a x-dock / pool shipment?

Regards

- Sanju

Re: Key Factors for building a X-Dock / Pooling shipments

My advice would be:

1. Take one order and check that without a cross dock on the lane that will build a direct shipment.

2. Take two orders with the same source and destination and make sure they build a direct shipment.

3. Add in a cross dock on the location and make sure that the option via the cross dock is cheaper and feasible (draw out the costs on a piece of paper)

You may need to have both a direct cost and a via cross dock cost in order for OTM to evaluate which is the cheapest.

Re-post if still having issues.
