rate qulaity vs rate preference

Hi,

Could any one advice, based on his/her practical experience, suggest when would rate qulaity be used as against rate preference.

Re: rate qulaity vs rate preference

Hi,

It depends a bit on how often your rates change.

We use rate preference for those carriers where the order needs to go through a particular carrier (but is not the cheapest). It will always take this carrier. You have the possibility to select however manual the other carriers.

Rate quality is more used for giving a carrier a kind of penalty because his perfomance is bad (or a benefit if he performs well!!). A cheaper rate can be then more expensive so it will be more expensive then the next cheapest carrier with better performance.
We use this exactly in this way. Idea: Cheaper is not always better!

Best regards,

Bob

Re: rate qulaity vs rate preference

Hi Bob,

Thanks.. but in the case of Rate pref can there be more than one prefered service providers ( by way of diff rate offerings) ? In that case is there a way to indicate that, say for example carrier ABC is the first choice over carrier XYZ ( for the same lane)

Re: rate qulaity vs rate preference

Hi,

You can have only one rate preference in place for a lane. I don;t see really why you want to do this because this is used in the automatic shipment building (not manual).
And at that moment only 1 can be preffered.

What is exactly what you want to do? Isn;t carrier commitments nothing for you then?

Best regards,

Bob
