Post Restricting stops in a State

Hi,

We need to restrict OTM from putting shipment stops in a specific state on a multi-stop shipment for a carrier. Let me explain by an example:

Carrier C1 and C2 both have services to Texas (TX) - California (CA) lane. Carrier C1 does not have license to enter Colorado (CO). But carrier C2 has. Carrier C1 is the preferred carrier for this lane due to lower rates. When OTM plans shipments on this lane, it usually creates a drop off stop in CO also. Carrier chosen is C1 always.

Expectation is that while order planning, if there are stops in CO, carrier assigned on this shipment should be C2. If there are no stops in state of CO, carrier C1 will get the shipment.

How do we achieve this in OTM? I tried putting a condition on carrier C1 rate cost to exclude the state CO. But it did not work. Please suggest how this can be done.

Regards,
-Salil

Re: Restricting stops in a State

Hi Salil,

Few Queries
  • Can carrier C1 execute multi-stop shipments between TX-CA if it include any other stop apart from CO?
  • or C1 can carry only direct shipments between TX-CA?

Hi Nipun,

Yes, C1 can execute multistop shipments on TX-CA lane as long as there are no stops in CO.

Re: Restricting stops in a State

Hi Salil,

One way to achieve the desired result is to attach "service provider profile" - containing Carrier C1 only and dont check compatible check box - This will make Carrier C1 invalid for this location, thus no shipment can be built with carrier C1 which include this stop.

Note:
For above solution to work, this service provider profile have to be attached to all location IDs in 'CO' state.

Re: Restricting stops in a State

Thank you Nipun. This worked. I got the shipment assigned to carrier C2. For assigning Non-C1 servprov profile, I will write an agent to populate this servprov profile when a new location with province code CO gets created. Thank again.

-Salil
