Any help is appreciated.

I want to bill one company for part of the freight charges and another company for the rest but everything I read says OTM does not have secondary shipments on the sell side and a order release can't be assigned to sell shipments. Any ideas?

Hi Ray,

We had a similar scenario when a Buy Shipment was charged to different customers; we achieved that having different order releases (at least one per billing customer), so we planned multiple sell shipments and created respective bills for each customer. In our case, every customer had its own rate structure but I am pretty sure you can rate the sell shipment based on the cost allocated to their respective order releases.

I wonder if in your particular case you could have different order releases for your companies and if the allocation of the cost at the order release level will split the costs according to your business needs.

Hi Ray,

Me again, I was also thinking that if you cannot have more than order release per shipment, you could generate 2 sell shipments for the same order release; one shipment for handling and the other for the transportation and then you could generate a bill for each of those shipments. You may need to configure a cross dock sell itinerary.

I think that you can have the same order release on more than one shipment. If you define a sell side itinerary with multiple legs, I think you will get more than one sell side shipment per order release. You could then have different sell side rates for those two different sell side shipments. Not sure if that will match your requirements, but I think its feasible.

The other alternative is to look at the recharge functionality. This was something that was put in to OTM for "kind of" this scenario I believe - but I dont have any experience of using it in a project and it may take you some time to check if it a) does what you need and b) works on the sell side and is not designed just to work on the buy side.
