Contact Notification-Basic question

Hi,

I have a basic questin on Contact notification.

1. when i define a contact (say for example- Planner) and i even give the preferencial communication method like E-mail, Message Centre. This part is clear.

2. When i assign the same contact to contact notificatiation(say for example - Shipment tender declined), i again find "Communcation methods and style sheets" in Contact notification screen. What is the use of this?

Can someone give me business understanding ?

Hi,

Normally the preference set at the contact will be used if nothing else is specified for a particular message. E.g. in an agent you can send a notification and you can specify to send it via Message center. This will prevail above the setting at the contact. If however nothing is mentioned in the agent the default setting from the contact will be used.
