[SOLVED] Agent Event

Hi ,

I have question regarding "Agent event" we can creat an agent event by Business Process Automation>Power data>>Event Managment >>>Agent events .
Do we need to have code written for it also on the background to work .

Rgds,
kishore

Re: Agent Event

Hi Kishore,

Customized Agent Events are triggered in the body of an Automation Agent with the "Raise Event" Action. We have used these Agent Events to link different types of Agents in OTM v4.5.

Hope this helps,

Alejandro B.

Re: Agent Event

Hi Kishore,

About your questions:

1. I suppose you are referring to the Data Query Type ID on the Agent Event. This field refers to the type of Automation Agent that is going to use this event as a trigger.
For example, you may have an Order Release agent that will raise a customized Agen Event and that Agent Event will trigger a Shipment Agent. In this case the Data Query Type ID for the Agent Event should be Shipment

2. The best way that I have found to know if your configuration of Agents is working is through the logs. Right after you perform a function that should trigger the event that creates the custom event you can check the Logs (The path in 4.5 is System Administration / Process Manager / Logs / System), in the log you can select the ID of Agents. This will only display the activity that relates to Agents.

It might be a good idea if you provide more details about what you are trying to achieve...

Hope this helps,

Alejandro B.

Re: Agent Event

Alejandro,

Did you ever try to record some message through an agent? In other words print something in the logs so that you can see if agent has gone to that point. (useful for debugging)

Thanks,
RK

Re: Agent Event

Hi RK,

I know that in OTM 4.5 has the functionality but I have never used it. I have always opted to check the system logs filtered to Agent logs. Something that has been very helpful to me is to print the Agent so I can follow the Agent logic against the system logs.

Is there any particular problem you are experiencing? What kind of agent are you trying to create?

Hope this helps,

Alejandro B.

Re: Agent Event

Thanks Alejandro. I am just wondering if there is some functionality like that. Currently we are not in the phase of developing Agents yet. I wonder when Oracle introduces debugging functionality to these agents.
