Can I import of 5.0 database on Oracle 10G

Hi All,

Can I import the DB dump of OTM v5.0 exported from Oracle 9i database to Oracle 10G.

Has anybody tried doing this with their Test or Devl environments.

Do you thing this won't work?

Any clarification of this is appreciated.

Thanks,
Suresh

Re: Can I import of 5.0 database on Oracle 10G

Suresh,

Yes - this should work without issue. I had done this in one of our test environments in the early days of OTM v5.5 without too many issues. The side benefit of exporting and importing is that it will compress your datafiles, removing fragmentation and free space within the data blocks.

You may not, however, be able to run OTM v5.0 against the 10.2.0.3 database -- instead you'd run the v5.0 to v5.5 migration scripts at this point and then run OTM v5.5 against the new database.
