Upgrade to 11g

I would like to know if anyone on OTM version 5.5.x has upgraded the DB from Oracle 10g to 11g and what your experience was.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Upgrade to 11g

We have, both with consulting customers and hosted customers. The migrations have gone without issue. There haven't been any great performance leaps, but there also haven't been any issues.

I must admit, it went much more smoothly than I expected for an R1 release -- usually we find that Oracle's R1 releases are buggy and R2 is much better

Re: Upgrade to 11g

Hi Chris,
Technical Architecture states that RAC of 11G (11.1.x) will not be supported with CU 5.
Any comments on this?

Re: Upgrade to 11g

Joseph,

Thanks for the clarification. We haven't attempted RAC with 11G, only standalone databases. I have to admit, we haven't done RAC for any production customers in a while -- the node-clash (or head-clash) performance issues and faster hardware have kept us away.

Re: Upgrade to 11g

Further to add to what Chris has said, we have with the exception of one customer running on 11g (11.1.0.7) with 5.5. Keep in mind though if you are using ROD, you have to keep 10g installed for that database. There are security issues with ROD and 11g that development has not worked out yet.
