OTM 5.5 CU5 (Linux) Removed From Metalink?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to download OTM 5.5 CU5 for Linux but it was pulled from Metalink with the following message:

This patchset is obsolete in this platform and language. Please see the reason stated below. Please contact Oracle Support for replacement patch.

Reason for Obsolescence
Problem with the Linux/WebSphere update.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!
Ian

Re: OTM 5.5 CU5 (Linux) Removed From Metalink?

Hi Ian,

I can confirm that there are some issues with the installer when it checks for the user and group. We run our linux servers using ADS and since the userid and groupid is not store locally in the passwd and group files the installer believes that the user doesn't exist and goes into an infinite loop of asking for the user and group until you exit. It won't get past this point for some reason. I don't know if this is the reason they pulled it or there are some others. I would wait until they fix it.

Nick

Re: OTM 5.5 CU5 (Linux) Removed From Metalink?

As of this morning, I see the following available on Metalink as the latest OTM versions:

32-Bit: CU05 released July 30
CU04 RU02 released June 02

64-Bit: CU04 RU02 released June 02

Has anyone heard when CU05 for 64-Bit is supposed to be available?

Re: OTM 5.5 CU5 (Linux) Removed From Metalink?

There must be a mistake with the 64-bit items. There are no current versions of OTM that use the 64-bit JDK so you can download the 32-bit versions on any 64-bit O/S.

Re: OTM 5.5 CU5 (Linux) Removed From Metalink?

Hi Nick...then can you tell us the difference in the downloads on Metalink? There, Oracle seems to make a distinction between 32 and 64 bit versions.

I use 2 different searches saved on Metalink to differentiate between 32 and 64 bit Linux. When I search for 32 bit Linux (Linux x86) I see the latest OTM version as:

Oracle Transportation Management Family: Patchset
RELEASE 5.5 CU 05

When I run the 64-bit search (Linux x86-64), I get this as the latest version:

Oracle Transportation Management Family: Patchset
RELEASE 5.5.4 ROLL UP 2 INSTALLER

Re: OTM 5.5 CU5 (Linux) Removed From Metalink?

Yep as I mentioned before there is a posting issue to Metalink by the developers. Ignore the 64-bit results and download the 32-bit files. If you take the 64-bit RU and compare it with the 32 it will be the same file. There will be no 64-bit versions of OTM until at least 6.0.

I have been able to hack the JDK and have been able to get the Jrockit 64-bit JDK to initialize and run with a 6 Gig heap size. This was modifying OAS to use the Jrockit JDK though; you won't be able to even startup Weblogic 8 with a 64-bit JDK. Development has also told me that dash libraries won't work as they will need to be recompiled for 64-bit. The 64-bit Sun JDK on the other hand initialized but I quickly received out of memory problems.

excellent information clearly explained (as usual)! I spent about an hour on Metalink and couldn't find a decent piece of info... found it here in 5 minutes.
