Platform Migration and OTM Upgrade

Hi All,

I am looking for some direction on how to
- migrate a OTM 5.5 environment on IBM Aix + Red Hat to OEL 5.6
- Upgrade OTM from 5.5 to 6.2.x
- Convert the database to RAC

I have gone through the white paper 'Support Guide for Migrating from OTM 5.5 to 6.2.3' but it does not specify anything about migrating to a different operating system

Any help is appreciated.

The main OTM java code is the same from OS to OS (assuming that you're using the same App server on each, like WebLogic). There's no difference in how you migrate OTM going from on OS to another. Depending on your project, you can either migrate the OS first (in which case, you'll need to contact Oracle support to get the correct OTM 5.5 installer and patches for the new OS) -- or you can include the OS migration as part of your OTM upgrade. Both work fine and it really just depends on your project timeline.

As with all migrations, make sure you have plenty of testing time -- especially if the IT team is new to Linux.

Converting the DB to RAC should involve a fair amount of testing. RAC works with OTM, but if not setup correctly, can degrade performance.

Hi Chris,

Here is my plan of action for now on how to proceed
Upgrade process
- Install Fresh Weblogic on OEL 5.6
- Install OTM 6.2 on OEL 5.6
- Install fresh DB 11.2.0.3
- Import data from O&G 10g to 11.2.0.3
- - Migrate the setups from 5.5 to 6.2.x environment
- convert to RAC
