Re: Integrating The BI Publisher in OTM

OTM v5.5 CU3 now supports OBI EE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) as the integrated analytics tool, which is officially called FTI (Fusion Transportation Intelligence).

This is a new technology for OTM (replacing Cognos - the 3rd party Analytics engine that G-Log had integrated into the product). Some quick notes:
  • Since this is newly released - I would definitely expect installation, integration and usage issues -- though I'm sure they'll be resolved in upcoming patches (CUs and RUs)
  • Oracle highly recommends running your analytics against an ROD (Replicated Operational Database), rather than your Operational database, because of performance implications.
You can find out more:

Thanks,
--Chris

Re: Integrating The BI Publisher in OTM

No problem -- only OTM v5.5 CU3 and higher will support BI. In addition, the older versions of OTM (and GC3) are being de-supported, so customers will want to migrate, regardless.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Integrating The BI Publisher in OTM

Yes, that should be the correct document -- you'll find the configuration settings in Chapter 4 - under "Installing Fusion Transportation Intelligence".

I'll do my best to help you out, though we have a couple of major client migrations and go-lives going on right now, which must take priority. I only mention this, as it may affect my ability to immediately respond.

My recommendation is to follow the manual and post whatever problems and solutions you encounter. That way the community can also benefit from your efforts and others will be able to learn more about FTI.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Integrating The BI Publisher in OTM

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your info on this subject.

Though I am aware that Oracle has brought in FTI as a new moudule in 5.5.3, would it still be possible to inetgrate the product with Cognos...( advanced analytics as in the earleir versions) .....though FTI may be a good dashboard to use .. our client would like to know if Cognos is integrateable / usable with OTM....

Our clients have not yet implemeneted OTM and hence I feel that this question might not be very important when they do implement OTM as they would surely have FTI... however we would be obliged if have some clarity on this from you....

Rgds--

Re: Integrating The BI Publisher in OTM

There is no Cognos support from within OTM so any integration (if it even would work) would have to be done by the customer and would be outside of the realm of support.
