VPD performance

Hi,

Could some one share the level of the performance hit on OTM when using VPD profile. I know there can't be a fixed answer to this.

Pls also let me know is there any benchmarking done on VPD by oracle to tell that if this many transactions are done then system would work fine otherwise not?

Regards
Vipin

You are right there is no stock answer.

With vpd's the best approach is to ensure that any filtering you require is queried in the most optimal way within the vpd predicate.

Where more complex queries are required - I have found it is better to use workflow to flag the objects and then query the flag within the vpd.

Re: VPD performance

Gary,

Is there any Bench Marking possible on the performance due to the impact of filteration?

I have got some replies from some experts on Database that if you have transactions happening till millions of the records then there will not be any impact but if transactions go above this then indexes need to be maintained. How this approach of indexes in supported in OTM in that case?
