Impact of changing the glogowner password

Hi all,
Just would like to if there's any impact to OTM if the glogowner default password glogowner is changed. If so, what additional action would be required e.g. modification to configuration files (e.g. glog.properties etc.) is required?

Any response is appreciated. Many thanks!

Cheers,
Simon.

Re: Impact of changing the glogowner password

Simon,

This is definitely possible and recommended for true production environments. If you're just looking at changing the glogowner password, then you'll just need to update the glog.properties file (on all tiers) and remember the password for applying OTM patches (i.e. running the dbpatch_55.sql script).

If you want to change other usernames/passwords, then the list expands beyond that. I believe the the following is a complete list of OTM DB users:
  • glogowner
  • glogdba
  • glogdev
  • glogload
  • archive
  • build
  • reportowner
Hope this helps!

Re: Impact of changing the glogowner password

Hi Chris,
Many thanks for your response. I was looking at the properties settings but couldn't find the specific property setting that points to glogowner as the password.

The closest match is glog.database.dbaglogowner.password, but the value of that property is encoded as glogload instead of glogowner.

glog.database.dbaOnly.user glogdba
glog.database.dbaglogowner.TNSName gc3dev
glog.database.dbaglogowner.gluser DBA.ADMIN
glog.database.dbaglogowner.password glogload

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Simon.

Re: Impact of changing the glogowner password

Simon,

I was mistaken, the application doesn't login directly as glogowner, it logs in as glogdba and glogload, so you can change the glogowner password without updating any property files. You'll just need to remember it when patching, as previously mentioned.

Thanks,
Chris
