OTM users logged in at one point of time

Hi Everybody,

Do we have any utility to track the OTM users who have logged into application at particular point of time. Well in OTM there is a feature of User Login History, however, it would say only authetication OK, failed etc. and more over if the user does a logout, those are not tracked (please correct me if I am wrong).

The idea we have is to run an end - to - end testing of volume test + function test. So we want also to monitor the number of logged in Users in OTM at any particular point of time which is active. So there is a chance that users won't do an login from OTM UI, probably the automation tool would do a login internally.

Well I do see that in automation tool there would track of the numbers of users used for the test. However if from your past experience would have any technique to monitor in the OTM part, I would appreciate if you could share that information.

Thanks very much in advance.
Suresh

Re: OTM users logged in at one point of time

Suresh,

Here's a related thread:
http://www.otmfaq.com/forums/f21/login-information-674/ (Login Information)

In short, OTM once had this capability, via a Servlet, to monitor which users were currently logged in, the total number of sessions and the memory related to those sessions. Unfortunately this broke in OTM v4.0 or v4.5 when we moved to a newer Tomcat version and was re-implemented.

So - your testing tool will be able to tell you accurately how many people are logged in and using OTM for Performance tests, but you won't be able to verify within OTM, or on a production system.

I encourage you (and everyone else) to submit these requests to Oracle in the form of Enhancement Requests (through Metalink), as OTM needs to mature from a management perspective to ensure it stays a viable and useful product.

Thanks,
Chris
