Exclamation [SOLVED] OTM Training Docs and User Guides

Hi,

We are planning to start the requirement phase for implementing OTM in our organization and we are looking for some OTM documentation/User Guides to understand how OTM works.

Are there any such documents?

Ravi

Re: OTM Training Docs and User Guides

Ravi,

There isn't a ton of OTM documentation out there, but it is slowly growing. If you check out this post (http://www.otmfaq.com/forums/f63/br100-bfa-66/#post122), I've included links to the base OTM documentation that is available from Oracle. I believe Oracle now has included their "Show Me" visual help scripts in the documentation page, available via the "Demo" link.

I hope this helps!

Thanks!

Re: OTM Training Docs and User Guides

Thanks Chris.

I have already gone through the links mentioned by you. They were not of much use to us. I guess I have to wait for Oracle to release some more documents.

Thanks

Ravi

Re: OTM Training Docs and User Guides

Ravi,

I'm sorry these docs weren't of much user to you. If you're looking for functional docs on how to configure and use OTM - right now the online help is your best resource. The only other alternative is the expensive Oracle training, though I hear that they're working on self study courses also (no word on price, though).

Sam and I have discussed creating training materials for OTM, in order to help people learn how to implement and manage the product - though we're still trying to guage the level of interest to make sure it would be worth it.

Re: OTM Training Docs and User Guides

Thanks Chris.

Actually we are going to have a formal training in our organization on OTM by Oracle shortly. The only problem is that I fear it is going to be more of Glog training rather than OTM.

What I am trying to specifically understand is how OTM integrates with all the other Apps modules? OTM/Glog has a Domain concept vis-a-vis the Multi-Org concept of Oracle Apps. I wanted to know how these two concepts complement each other.

Re: OTM Training Docs and User Guides

Ravi,

It sounds like you're interested in the EBS / OTM integration and unfortunately this isn't currently covered within any Oracle training course that I'm aware of. In fact, there is very little documentation out there to help - one of the biggest problems I hit while helping several clients implement this. I recently gave a workshop at OAUG Collaborate '07 on this topic and have just posted my presentation deck here on the forums (http://www.otmfaq.com/forums/f24/int...-pitfalls-212/)

If you have specific questions, feel free to reply to that post and I'll answer as best I can -- plus I'm sure it will be of interest to others on the forums.

BTW - there really isn't a difference between OTM and G-Log/GC3 - it's the exact same product. So far they've updated the UI and made some hooks to integrate with EBS. I expect it to take a while before OTM has been fully "Oracle-ized".

Thanks!
