Driver Management in OTM

Hi Friends,

I am new to OTM and also to this forum.I am Kiran who works for a 3PL company in Singapore.

We currently is doing the analysis in OTM, to see how we can fit OTM perfectly for our business.

I have a lot of doubts and to start with I would like to know how we can configure Drivers in OTM.

Scenario is that after registering assets in equipments (trucks), we would like to have drivers set in OTM and then assign drivers to shipments.

Please feel free to ask any number of questions and please help me.

Kiran,

This is currently not a feature of OTM and Oracle is trying to push Oracle Asset Manager to supply the bulk of this functionality.

However - in OTM 6.0, the OTM development team is building out this functionality considerably and I would expect it to fulfill most client requirements either sometime within v6.0 (via CU updates) or in v6.5 (or whatever version comes next).

Oracle won't give any specific dates, other than the year -- so 6.0 is anticipated for release in 2008.

The best place for a consolidated list of the new OTM v6.0 features and updates is Jim Mooney's presentation from the OTM SIG User Conference last year:

I'm aware of a few more changes going into v6.0, but I'm not sure if they're meant to be released publicly yet (because they may or may not make the final release, etc..)

I can say that most people thinking about 6.0 are expecting a release late this year (Dec 200

and don't expect to begin implementing internally until June 2009 at the earliest (roughly the first CU). Keep in mind that these dates are still speculation, as Oracle won't commit to a release date.
