[SOLVED] RE: IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error1658; create inde

Zara,

I'm pretty confident there's a bug in the create_gc3_tablespaces.sql
script.

If you alter the INDX table as stated, then rerun the
create_glog_users.sql
And then re-import and follow the rest of the document you should be all
set.

We just did that and had a successful install.

Thanks,
John

Zara,

Since the table already exists you may want to try this command. I'm
having the exact same problem on an install

Alter database datafile 'c:\otm\data\indx001.dbf' autoextend on maxsize
4000M

Make sure c:\otm\data\indx001.dbf - is the path to your data file

I think you then need to drop all the stuff running:

@create_glog_users.sql

I'm trying all this right now so I'll let you know if it works.

I think there is a bug in the create_gc3_tablespaces.sql

John

Alan,

It is you again haha. : -) Thanks!
I tried your suggestion and it complained that the tablespace "INDX"
already existed. So should I drop it first? How do I drop it? Do I need
to drop all the tablespaces and then recreate?

I also run this:

SQL> show parameter cache;

Name Type
Value

db_16k_cache_size big integer

36M
db_cache_advice string
ON
object_cache_optimal_size integer
102400

All of the rest has a value of "0".

I tried to change the "db_16k_cache_size" to 100M, however I got
"ORA_02097: parameter cannot be modified because specified value is
invalid ORA-00384 : Insufficient memory to grow cache" error.

Please excuse me if I asked really rudimentary questions. I am kind of
new to the Oracle stacks as I said.

Thanks again!!

Zara

Re: IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1658;create index ....

Stephen,

You and Alan really saved my day!!!
I am having a 2 tier RHEL AS 4 setup of OTM 5.5.1. Oh boy, it is lots of
hassle to set it up. However I tried your suggestion and then it worked
perfectly.
Was able to import the data finally with only one ignorable warning
(IMP-00041). I think I could have a good sleep tonight.
Again thank you guys for the GREAT HELP!!!

Zara

P.S. Is *JAccelerator* really necessary? I just realized that I
did not have it installed when I installed Oracle 10g, it is not in the
10.2.0.2 patch either.

Re: IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1658; create index ....

Zara and John,

I've seen performance issues when JAccelerator isn't installed. OTM
uses a fair amount of Java code within the DB and JAccelerator
contains natively compiled classes that greatly improve JVM performance.

A couple more notes on the OTM v5.5 install that may help:

1) If you are installing on Unix server and your OTM user and group
differs (for instance otm : dba), then you'll need to manually edit
the following files and set the Group property accordingly:

OTM Web Server : <otm_install_dir>/apache/conf/httpd.conf
OTM Report Server : <otm_install_dir>/rptapache/conf/httpd.conf

2) When you install your Oracle Database, ensure that the "Oracle
Spatial" feature is not enabled. If it is, then distance lookups
won't work within OTM. There is a conflict between the synonyms that
Oracle Spatial uses and those within OTM. If you've already
installed and are experiencing this issue, you can find a quick fix
in the OTMFAQ forums:

http://www.otmfaq.com/forums/f23/uni...le-spatial-76/ (Uninstalling Oracle Spatial)

Thanks,
Chris
