Subject: RE: Order Release Line data created in parent domain
Hi Miguel,
That is correct we use the order release screens and not the order base
screens. Our planners do copy pre-existing orders when creating new ones
and maybe this is the root to the incorrect domain data.
We have all locations in the Parent domain (RHL) as well as equipment
and commodities.
I like you suggestion on having locations in the customer sub-domains
and then having an agent verify that order domain is correct when it is
build.
Is it correct to assume that commodities and equipment should be build
in the Public domain and not in our top domain? We have to make
excessive domain grants from the RHL domain to the sub domains for them
to see equipment, commodities and locations.
I would be great to talk to you and get some input, would you have time
to talk this afternoon?
Thanks,
Runi

Runi,
Since you are a 3pl you have most likely been shown to use the Freight
Forwarding screen for entering orders and do not use order base. I am
not
sure how you are entering your orders so I cannot comment what causes
this
to happen. During my current implementation I have run across this
before
but only when we copied existing orders from the regular order release
entry
screen.
I have been implementing GC3/OTM for 6 years now and try to never use
subdomains as I have found them to be very cumbersome and requires heavy
maintenance in a TEST/QA/PROD environment as well not very friendly for
integration and other reasons.
Our very high level process is as follows and it works very well.
- Create Domain and grant read/write access to the domain where the
users
will be logging into so that the users see the customer profile from the
freight forwarding pull down field.
- Load customer locations into its respective domains.
- Create action check to ensure that the order gets saved in the same
domain
as the origin location (Order owner).
Miguel
Feel free to contact me and I can speak to you about some of my
experiences
implementing 3pl environments.

Runi,
We have configured a similar schema where subdomains are used for
customer
orders while the buy shipments are at the parent domain level. The big
difference is that a touch point generates the order bases in their
respective customer subdomain. Using the ready to ship screen the order
releases are generated in the same customer subdomain.
Depending on your business needs, you could also have an order base in
each
subdomain and generate order releases from them. But it may be more
practical to create order templates for each customer subdomain and use
them
to create the orders. If you want to create stand alone order releases,
you
will also need to customize the menus.
Hope this information is useful. If you have any questions or comments,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thanks,
Alejandro Barba

Runi,
Usually there is a drop down when a user has access to
multiple domains to specifiy which domain to look at.
Not sure if this applies to the Order Release Line.
Alternatively the users can change the domain context
which should also resolve the issue.
