Item weight dimension data sync with EBS

We're wondering how the item weights and dims get synchronized with EBS item master. We don't seem to be able to find any documentation in metalink on this particular integration. Thanks for your help!

Re: Item weight dimension data sync with EBS

It's been a while since I've looked at these, but I don't believe they're sync'ed in the current EBS/OTM integration flows. The item masters are sent over as part of the integration, but I don't believe all of the details (like dims and weights) are. This requires a manual process, though is a great candidate for extending (customizing) the base integration flows.

Re: Item weight dimension data sync with EBS

Thanks Chris! We understand that OTM does not accept a non-existing item to be entered into an Order Release, so we're wondering what our options are as far as populating item data and keeping them in sync when integrating with EBS. One of the questions we have is will we need a program to help validate whether an item exist in OTM before a delivery gets into OTM as an Order Release? Thanks for your help!

Re: Item weight dimension data sync with EBS

Hi,

One suggestion is to create the missing items dynamically when the data is feed through integration..I have witnessed a client doing this for Location data.On receiving the actual feed the comparison is done with the master list of data and the missing data is inserted dynamically into the master list before the actual feed is sent to OTM..This will also save you from lots of integration failures..
Hope this piece of info helps you.

Re: Item weight dimension data sync with EBS

The seeded BPEL interface from Oracle allows items/locations and orgs to be synched with OTM upon release from EBS (as a delivery). The item information that comes over from EBS is very basic - in fact it brings over the INVENTORY_ITEM_ID - not segment1 or the Item Name. Seeded integration also creates a packaged item for the item in OTM. It does this for each Org the item is enabled in.

We recently did some fairly extensive customization on this which we will be presenting at the upcoming OTM SIG. Check back for a copy of the presenation if you cannot attend.
