Oracle's New Enhancement Request Process

All,

I just wanted to take a minute and share Oracle's new Enhancement Request Process with you. Steve Harris, our Oracle liaison send this information over, and it will help the community to understand how it works:

Quote:
Oracle has begun providing visibility to new client enhancement requests via Metalink. Beginning July 1, 2008, all new OTM enhancement requests logged via Support will be converted to bugs queryable via Metalink. Oracle will not convert all existing enhancement requests to this new process, rather, we will convert only those that are currently dispositioned for a release. All remaining enhancement requests will have internal visibility for future release consideration.
Enhancements can be submitted and viewed through Metalink: www.metalink.oracle.com and should be accompanied by a completed enhancement request form.

For more information about this process, and for the required enhancement request form, please see Metalink Knowledgebase article 727897.1.
In addition, here's the details of the Metalink article 727897.1:
Quote:
Subject: Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) Enhancement Request Procedure. Doc ID: Note:727897.1 Type: REFERENCE Last Revision Date: 29-AUG-2008 Status: PUBLISHED In this Document
Purpose
Scope
Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) Enhancement Request Procedure.

Applies to:

Oracle Transportation Management - Version: 5.5
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose

This document explains the process for logging an Enhancement Request for the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) product.

Scope

The OTM Development group works continually to make significant improvements in the features and functionality offered in the OTM product. Many of these improvements are industry driven while others are based on recommendations and requests made by OTM clients. These recommendations and requests are made by using the Enhancement Request process.
If additional functionality is requested to be added to OTM then the Enhancement Request process should be followed. In addition if a Service Request (SR) has been logged, investigated by OTM Support and determined to be 'Working As Designed', to have the functionality added or altered the Enhancement Request process will need to be followed.
Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) Enhancement Request Procedure.

Enhancement Request Process:
1a. Log a Service Request with OTM support - making sure to select 'Product Enhancement Request' for Type of Problem when creating the SR.
OR
1b. A Service Request has been logged and investigated, the issue has deemed to be 'Working As Designed' and you have been requested to log an Enhancement Request.
2. You fill in the Enhancement Request Form that is attached to this note and upload it to the SR.
3. We (Support) will then file an Enhancement Bug with development and provide you with the Bug ID.
4. Once the Enhancement Bug has been logged we will seek agreement to close this SR as you can track the progress of the Enhancement Bug via MetaLink.
5. The OTM Development Team will review the Enhancement Request and liaise with you to determine if the Enhancement will be approved and targeted for a release.
I hope this helps!

Re: Oracle's New Enhancement Request Process

I actually went through this process already, and if you are following step 1a in the Metalink note, you shouldn't have to do step 2 (per Gavin Lindsay at Oracle). It is pretty redundant if you do, but the techs required it. I think they may have written their procedures up wrong. Anyway Gavin said he would fix the Metalink note.
